Position: Middle School Band Director
Effective Date: August 01, 2022
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and teaches from curriculum based on Indiana State Standards of music
- Organizes and presents daily lesson plans that reflect instructional best practices as outlined in school improvement plans or professional development initiatives
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that provide developmentally age appropriate experiences and promotes student engagement
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
- Implements strategies to keep students and parents informed of academic and behavioral performance
- Identifies students' needs, makes appropriate referrals, and implements appropriate accommodations/interventions as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEP), Individual Learning Plans
- (ILP), 504 Plans, or Response to Instruction (Rtl) Plans
- Creates an organized environment conducive to learning through functional and attractive displays
- Utilizes technology as an instructional, communication, and management tool
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve and promote an effective learning atmosphere.
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Works closely with High School Band Director
- Work with students as they prepare solos and ensembles for solo and ensemble festivals
- Perform at public concerts and state music association events during the school year
- Assists with school-wide projects such as the holiday madrigal. Assists with the operation and supervision of stage sound and lighting equipment
- Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook. Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
LICENSE: Valid Indiana Teaching License
