    Job Title:                      Equine Laborer
    Department:                Equine Maintenance
    Reports To:                  Equine Facility Manager
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Ultimately responsible for supporting the Equine Maintenance Department with a variety of tasks and job duties.  Adheres to all Indiana Grand Racing & Casino service and operating standards. Maintains, coordinates and prioritizes the administrative workflow associated with the Equine Maintenance Staff. Job duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Landscaping, mulching, weeding, mowing across the entire property
    • Planting and Pulling of trees and plants
    • Snow removal & salt laying
    • All trash removal from the backside and frontside of the track
    • Manure removal
    • Barn repairs such as leaky faucets or hoses
    • Repairs to horse stalls when damaged by the animals
    • Strip out and replace/ maintain the horse stalls
    • Strip out and replace/ maintain the hot walkers for the horses
    • Community projects
    • Painting dorm rooms & offices
    Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
     
    QUALFICATIONS
    The following is a list of items required to perform the job duties of this position:
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission license
    • Ability to work under pressure in extreme temperatures (hot or cold)
    • Must be a Team Player, while also being able to complete tasks independently
    The following is a list of items not required but preferred:
    • Current valid driver’s license
    • Experience with heavy equipment such as
      • Loader, Bobcat, Forklift, Tractor, Dump Truck, Lift, etc…
    • Willing to complete overtime as needed

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work in a highly populated fast-paced and noisy environment. The Team Member  is subject to outdoor weather and elements thereof.
