POSITION: School Nurse- Shelbyville High School EFFECTIVE DATE: April 12, 2022
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned
- Assists the Health Services Director with the health services program at their assigned building
- Follows directives from Health Services Director
- Initial care for the sick or injured student and staff member
- Administers first aid and emergency procedures in accordance with established procedures
- Implements immunization requirements and all screening programs mandated by Indiana law
- Dispenses prescription and OTC medications as ordered
- Provide care/assistance to students outlined in their Individualized Health Care Plan with the proper training
- Creates and maintains current health records on all students
- Attend RTI meetings/special education conferences
- Maintain confidential employee health records
- Maintain first aid equipment to be used in clinic, office, classrooms as well as specialty first aid equipment (ie: Narcan, EpiPen, Stop the Bleed).
- Serves as a liaison between school, home, and the community
- Maintains daily log of clinic activities
- Maintains confidentiality
- Maintains a current first aid and CPR/AED provider card
- Promotes and maintains positive working relationships with all school personnel
- Attend required training sessions
- Participates in school committees (i.e.: wellness, crisis team)
- Handles clerical functions/reports related to job responsibilities in a timely manner
- Well organized and takes initiative
- Responsible, strong work ethic, flexible
- Communicates proficiently in English oral and written communication
- Communicates and meets with parents as needed
- Maintains satisfactory attendance
- Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook
- Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Indiana Nursing License CPR/AED certification
