  • Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: 5-3-19

It was January 11 when a woman had found this big black and white stray cat on Walker Street in Shelbyville. It was cold outside and she allowed the cat to spend the night inside. He was a bit "beaten up" by his appearance, truly life on the streets can be tough. No microchip, no collar with ID tags, no missing report or no human looking for his handsome feline. Chubb was selected to go to Vet Tech Institute and that was a blessing for this five-year-old. While in their care, he tested positive for FIV but tested negative for FeLV.   Vet Tech cared for and returned our Chubb in such better health. He is now neutered, microchipped, current on his rabies vaccination, wormed and had a dental. He returned a bright-eyed and bushy tailed tuxedo who is looking for a home without other cats or share his humans with other FIV positive cats. Chubb does get along with other cats and is kid-friendly and loving. He uses his litter box faithfully and has such a chilled demeanor. He's king cool of the front adoption room! Chubb weighs just over eleven pounds and his adoption fee has been waived. We are looking for an inside home for him, he's already been through so much living a life on the streets, and deserves a life of luxury.   Questions about our beauties, email  me (Chris Browder) anytime at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call your dedicated shelter team at 317-392-5127.  Thank you for your support of us and what we do....save lives.
