    TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE INFORMATION
Be In The Know; Don't Be Left In The Dark
April 8th is only one short week away, so BRCF is sharing essential information for Shelby County residents to be aware of regarding the much-anticipated total solar eclipse. Since our county is expected to see a large number of visitors during this historical event, there is a possibility that normal everyday tasks such as traveling to and from work, picking up carryout, even running to the grocery store is going to be difficult. We highly encourage you to take a few moments to click on the links below to be in the know.

    BRCF SCHOLAR ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
    Lindsey Bonte
April’s featured alumni scholar is Lindsey Bonte.  Lindsey is a 2019 graduate of Shelbyville High School and 2023 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University.  Looking back at her scholarship application from the fall of 2018, there was little doubt that Lindsey knew the route she was taking upon graduation.  Her essay clearly demonstrated a passion for graphic design and marketing.

    ECLIPSE VIEWING GLASSES
    Limited Supply Still Available
On April 8th, Shelby County residents and visitors will experience a once in a lifetime opportunity - a total solar eclipse.  BRCF has collaborated with local organizations to help prepare for this every 800 years event.  As part of our involvement, BRCF purchased solar eclipse viewing glasses that will soon be delivered to all Shelby County schools as well as to long-term care facilities and to organizations that provide services to home bound residents such as Meals on Wheels and Infinity Home Care.
Additionally, donations from Horseshoe Indianapolis, MHP Foundation, the City of Shelbyville, and Shelby County Government have allowed BRCF, alongside the Total Solar Eclipse Committee, to order additional glasses for the general public to be distributed at the Shelby County Public Library starting in early March.  April 7th will be the last day that these glasses can be picked up or until the supply has run out.

    ATTENTION SHELBY COUNTY RESIDENTS
    Please Help Support Broadband Expansion
Shelby County is actively working on securing funding for broadband expansion and needs your help! Many areas in rural Shelby County have been identified as potential addresses eligible for the BEAD Challenge Process. This is a process where the local government can challenge the broadband service status of your address on your behalf if your location has been marked incorrectly. Your address could be identified as “served” by the state of Indiana, even if you are not actually
experiencing access to adequate internet service.  More information about Indiana Broadband and the BEAD Challenge Process can be found here: https://www.in.gov/indianabroadband/  To learn how you can support Shelby County in collecting the needed data, please click on the button below.
