Supporting Literacy in Shelby CountyShelby County Reads was recently awarded a grant from the Bueford and Caryl Loper Robbins Fund held at BRCF to support their latest project. As they are celebrating the Year of the Book and recent renovations to the Shelby County Public Library, they are focusing on the importance of books regardless of age. A collaboration between their organization, Three Sisters Books & Gifts, SCPL, and the schools has provided them the opportunity to get copies of their book selection, Do Not Bring Your Dragon to the Library, into all Shelby County Schools.READ MORE IN CASE YOU DIDN'T HEAR
BRCF Welcomes Laura Land to StaffOn July 12th, Laura Land joined the BRCF staff as our Community Engagement Officer. In this role, Laura will work closely with nonprofit boards and staff members, grantmaker colleagues, and community partners to support the overall health and wellbeing of the nonprofit sector in Shelby County. She will manage the Serve Shelby site, administered by BRCF, as well as collaborate with the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce's Nonprofit Roundtable work.
