OPPORTUNITIES FOR SHELBY COUNTY STUDENTSHigh school students on track to graduate by June 30, 2022 can now apply for scholarships during BRCF's summer, scholarship application cycle. Students applying during this cycle are considered for both the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship and BRCF administered scholarships. The deadline to apply is September 1, 2021. BYS North Reach HikeOn June 12th , Backyard Shelby (BYS, a BRCF initiative) organized a hike to introduce the community to the newly constructed North Reach trail. The trail starts at the Shelbyville trailhead and winds along the Big Blue River in between the two Knauf facilities. This new community asset was made possible by a partnership between the City of Shelbyville, Knauf Insulation, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. READ MORE
LILLY SCHOLARS SUPPORT LOCAL NONPROFITSBRCF is excited to announce that two, Shelby County organizations have received Lead Forward Grants through the Lilly Scholars Network spring cycle thanks to the support of Lilly Scholars Jody Butts (2001 SC Lilly Scholar) and Stewart Douglas (2019 SC Lilly Scholar). Jody partnered with the newly formed Blue River Youth Choir to write a grant for their Summer Camp, while Stewart worked with the J. Kenneth Self Boys & Girls Club of Shelby County to bring a tower garden to their campus.
