    SHELBY COUNTY IMAGINATION LIBRARY MATCH CAMPAIGN
    Celebrate National Reading Month By Making A Difference Locally
     

    In celebration of
    National Reading Month, BRCF is once again offering a 1:1 match on gifts of any amount up to $1,000
    made to the Shelby County Imagination Library Fundduring March.  The total amount available for this match opportunity is capped at $25,000.

     
    This fund supports the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Shelby County and provides children age 0-5 an opportunity to have books delivered to their homes each month.  The program is free for each registered child; DPIL covers the cost of the books and the fund held at BRCF covers the cost of shipping and handling.  Although a gift of $25 covers the cost the for 1 child for 1 year, a gift of any amount is welcome and will be matched up to $1,000. 

    Please consider making a gift to promote the love of reading among our youngest residents.  Donations can be made on our website, by mail, dropped off at our office, or by simply clicking the button below.

    2023 GRANTS DISTRIBUTED FROM DESIGNATED FUNDS
    Over $500,000 Awarded
    BRCF’s Grants and Nonprofit Relations Director, Jordan England, recently presented Shelby Senior Services with a $30,005 grant made possible from two designated funds which support their work each year; the Mildred McCrea Designated Fund and Shelby Senior Services Fund.  Pictured above (l-r):

    Throughout January and February, BRCF processed $549,530 in grants to 30 individual nonprofit organizations. When a designated fund is established, the donor directs the fund’s annual payout to one or more charitable organizations. Grants from these designated funds are not applied for and are not part of our competitive grant process.

    BRCF COMMUNITY GRANT CYCLE 2023
    Grant Interest Form Deadline - March 15th


    BRCF is currently accepting grant interest forms, due no later than March 15th, for the Community Grant cycle.  During this grant cycle, BRCF welcomes proposals addressing a broad range of initiatives and opportunities to serve the community.  We encourage and give preference to the following:
    • New or innovative programs that serve a broad spectrum of community members
    • Projects that strive to serve/engage new or underserved populations
    • Collaborative projects across various disciplines
    • Projects that are impactful and transformational in nature
    • Programs that show sustainability
    • Grant funds will clearly help the group or organization pursue strategic plan objectives that advance their long term institutional vitality and/or program quality

    NEW FUND ESTABLISHED
    The fund listed below was recently established at BRCF.  Thanks to our generous donors for choosing the Foundation to help with their philanthropic goals.  
    The Blue River Dental Scholarship was recently established by Dr. Carrie Pumphrey and Dr. Betsy Crandall to provide financial support to students wishing to pursue a career in dental assisting or dental hygiene. Both doctors have enjoyed a successful, fulfilling career due in large part to the talents and dedication of the dental care providers working alongside them. They hope to encourage those interested in healthcare to pursue a career in dentistry.
    Criteria:
    • Must be a Shelby County resident
    • Planning to pursue a degree in dental assisting or dental hygiene
    • Must plan to attend an accredited educational program
    • Graduating high school seniors, current college students, and nontraditional students are eligible
    • Selected by: BRCF Scholarship Committee and donor advisors
           *This scholarship will award for the first time in 2024.  
     
     
    RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DRAWING WINNER
    Head Start Shelby County
    This year in observance of Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th, BRCF supported Serve Shelby’s efforts by funding a drawing for local nonprofits/charitable organizations a chance to win $250. Community members were asked to nominate their favorite organization(s) and a random drawing was held to select the winner - Head Start Shelby County.
