November 2020In recognition of National Community Foundation week celebrated on November 12-18th, Blue River Community Foundation is opening a mini-grant cycle to Shelby County Nonprofits. As nonprofits continue to work their way through Covid-19 effects, BRCF has recognized that there is an ongoing need for relief funding to our local organizations. This mini-grant is intended to help those organizations who continued on with fundraising efforts through the pandemic, but still fell short of budgeted goals. Awarded grants will be announced by the end of Community Foundation Week. The application deadline is November 9th.
APPLY NOW CONGRATULATIONS 2017 LILLY SCHOLAR - BILLY BLOCHERCongratulations to William (Billy) Blocher who was recently accepted into the Indiana University School of Medicine. Billy is Shelby County’s 2017 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar. He will be graduating from the University of Notre Dame (ND) this May with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavior and a B.S. in Economics. While attending ND, he has excelled academically maintaining a 3.95 cumulative GPA. In addition, he has been named to the ND Dean’s List numerous times and was a Sorin Scholars Nominee. SNIP SIX: ARTS FOR LEARNING
Fresh StART at Coulston Elementary
Earlier this year, BRCF shared a glimpse into the Arts for Learning Mural project “Story Stream” at Coulston Elementary. The project is now complete and since COVID-19 restrictions cancelled the reveal ceremony, this SNIP SIX GRANT REPORT provides not only photos of the finished piece, but also information about the Fresh StART program and impact in the community. Thanks to grants from Blue River Community Foundation’s Community Endowment Fund and the DePrez Family Community Fund for making this work possible.
