BRCF ALUMNI SCHOLARS ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
During BRCF’s summer scholarship workshops, a new opportunity was introduced to high school students who participated; Campus Connections.  The goal of this effort is to connect members of BRCF’s Scholar Alumni group with Shelby County students as they explore various colleges/universities they are interested in attending.   LEARN MORE

    ALLEY ART ADDITIONS
As part of the alley activation project, we have highlighted Robert Zimny - a member of the NFL Chicago Cardinals championship team in 1947. After 5 seasons in the NFL, Zimny settled in Shelbyville where he raised his family and taught health and PE at Shelbyville High School. In 2012, the Zimny Family established the Robert Zimny Scholarship Fund that has awarded scholarships to 9 Shelbyville High School football players to date.  The Zimny’s have been amazing community members for several generations and it looks like for more generations to come.  Pictured in this unique four generation photograph are Robert’s son Rick (far right), his grandson Kevin, and Kevin’s three sons; Robert’s great-grandsons.

Also added to the alley activation project was a portrait of J.G. DePrez. In 1880, Jacob DePrez formed the J.G. DePrez Hardware Store. The building was three stories tall, with a basement, and included a four-story warehouse in the rear. In addition to hardware, the store sold china, stoves, glass, plumbing outfits, gas fixtures, and steam-fitting materials.  Toys were also sold on the second floor. As a special tribute, the back wall of the J.G. DePrez Hardware Store is the home of Mr. DePrez’s 2020 portrait.  READ MORE
