• Our Hospice of South Central Indiana: Our Hospice Decatur Golf Tournament Raises Over $32,500

The 30th Annual Decatur Golf Tournament, held on June 21st, was a resounding success, generating an estimated net revenue of $28,000! This incredible achievement wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of the Greensburg community for the past three decades.

Celebrating 30 Years of Community Spirit
Sixteen teams and 64 golfers came together for this annual fundraiser, benefiting Our Hospice of South Central Indiana patients and families in Decatur County. The first-place team this year was DC Integrated Medicine. The members of the winning team consisted of G Money, Mac, Brayton and Doc. (left to right in the picture)

    A Day to Remember

Beautiful weather provided the perfect backdrop for a day of friendly competition on the course. The event kicked off with opening remarks from Steph Cain, President of Our Hospice, Jim Wenning, a member of the Decatur Community Relations Committee (CRC) and Connie Witkemper, an Our Hospice Volunteer.

    Gratitude for Generous Sponsors
Julie Davis, Our Hospice Event and Volunteer Services Manager, expressed her sincere appreciation to the community. "Over the past 30 years, including this year, we've raised over $778,000," she said. "This wouldn't be possible without the amazing support of our sponsors, golfers, and everyone who contribute so generously. We are particularly grateful to our three Title Sponsors: Decatur County Memorial Hospital, K.B. Specialty Foods, and the anonymous donor who honored all Our Hospice workers – the true heroes."
Special recognition was also given to the Community Relations Committee, benefactors, contributors, and the Greensburg Country Club. Russ Hubler Ford added excitement to the event with a 2024 Ford Maverick up for grabs for a hole-in-one on Hole 17.

Giving Back to Those in Need
"Proceeds from the Decatur Golf Tournament directly impact the lives of patients and families facing end-of-life care," explained Steph Cain. "Last year alone, we provided $83,500 in uncompensated care, along with essential support services like bereavement care. Fundraising events like this allow us to continue to Make Every Moment Count for our patients and families in our community. We are grateful for everyone who has supported Our Hospice and this tournament throughout the years."

A Dedicated Team Makes a Difference
In 2023, Our Hospice team and volunteers provided care for over 1100 patients, including 387 individuals with advanced illness in Decatur County. They also made over 467 bereavement contacts supporting patient families in Decatur County.

    Celebrating Individual Achievements
The par 3 hole winners were Orhan Alp, Randy Domingo, Ruth Hood, Chris Scheidler, and Kevina Schumaker. The 50/50 Raffle was won by Daryl Knecht, and the putting contest winner was Dan Anderson. Congratulations to all the winners and participants!

Looking Forward to the Next 30 Years
The 30th Annual Decatur Golf Tournament was a testament to the power of community. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come
