Editor's Note:  This email did not launch last week.  Our email list vendor (who donates their services) said we had a bad link.  Lo and behold our website server had an issue, and www.StrandPAC.org didn't work.   That server (donated too) was fixed, and here is last week's edition with some updates.)

    STRAND WORK SESSION

    SATURDAY APRIL 24, 2021

    9am - NOON

    Please wear a mask!

    THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!

    Dear Strand Fan,

We are getting things done. Last week we cleaned and prepared the theater for the work our contractor will perform. The week before we had over 20 volunteers doing all sorts of work in the theater.    We are ready for our concrete floor and the theater is safely mothballed.   We have plastic over every seat, lighting instrument, and equipment.    If it should get dusty, we will be ready.    We will continue some tasks this Saturday, so if you can make it we would love to see you.   As always, stop by just to look around too!

How many marquees have both the Electric Light Orchestra and Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice? That was last week. This week we had new messages. Do you speak Spanish?  We enjoy putting things on our marquee, but much rather have our upcoming shows displayed.

The marquee is going to go through an LED upgrade.  This will save around $150 per MONTH in electricity.    The total cost is $750.   As soon as we have the funds to comfortably spend we will get that done.   This, like most projects, is something easily done by our volunteers.   We will have our electrician do those small items that will require working with line voltage.

Last week the Strand’s Board of Directors met in person for the first time since October 2020.   It was sad to be missing Gordon Hood who died from Covid earlier this year.   We put REMEMBER GORDON on our marquee hoping everyone will get their vaccine.

Our discussion centered around reopening the theater.    Hopefully in late June or July we will gently schedule a few events.   This depends on a lot of factors with the pandemic.    The goal is to have a small schedule in place by the fall, and be fully up and running February 2022.   It can’t come soon enough.

Enjoy the spring weather, although we had just about every type of weather this week!  Thank you for your support.   See you at the Strand!
