Dear Strand fan,

This week we welcome back to the stage CARL BENTLEY BLUEGRASS. This concert, rescheduled for March, will present outstanding bluegrass music from our stage.

Carl has performed at the Strand in the past, and we are thrilled to have him back. We hope everyone can attend, if you like bluegrass, the Strand will be the place to be on Saturday night! Tickets are available online and at the door. If you had tickets for the March performance, those are still good for the performance Saturday night.

On Tuesday May 16, we welcome back to Shelbyville Middle School Music Department with a performance by the SMS JAZZ BAND and the SMS JAZZ CHOIR. The performance starts at 7 PM and is free admission.

Our Friday Night Frights film series continues on Friday May 19. This month we will be showing the Universal Pictures monster movie THE MUMMY (1932).  The movie starts at 7:30 PM and tickets are available at the door and the balcony will be open.

(Warning, TechTalk ahead) When our technical Director Cody Veerkamp passed away unexpectedly in February,  we realized that we had a problem. Not only filling the gap physically and emotionally in the Strand family, but our websites are hosted by Cody. 

For the past several months we’ve been working on the plan to get those moved onto a new server. It is easier said than done. Cody, who was brilliant, managed to have securities beyond what we could have imagined on that server. In order to download a copy of the site it requires us to get into parts of the server that are normally done only by an administrator.

We were not surprised, but that section is password-protected. We do not have the password. We have been working locally with Tubesock to try to find a solution. We do not want to lose the years of development that we have had on our website. Steve Frazee and David Finkel have been successful in locating the backups of data, but without the front end to load it on, it might be useless. Today, Steve and David are back at it again hopefully with a positive solution. Thank you to Tubesock for stepping up for the community and helping the Strand with his very difficult process.

The bright side is that our ticketing system is fully intact. That is managed by our ticket software company and redirects from our site. Hopefully we will get this solved and be back to where we were. Cody did a marvelous job, sometimes too good.

We hope everybody is enjoying all the school awards programs, final sporting events, and all those activities around the county schools.  We always enjoy having high school students volunteer with us, and celebrate with them and their outstanding accomplishments.
