Our 16th Season
...Building an Audience, One Seat at a Time.
Dear Strand Fan,
This week we have the SIN FILM FESTIVAL. The entries had to be independently produced and with a budget under $1 Million. This is an adjudicated event. Awards are in the category of each of the seven deadly sins. The following films, along with their country of origin, are being shown:Parks Perfect Poltergeists (USA)Miracle Baby (USA)Noman (USA)Haunted Baby Carriage (USA)Mind Leech (CANADA)
Bodies (GREECE)Ghosts of the Void (USA)Space Eye (CROATIA)Present (USA)Spookie Dookie (USA)The Detachment (SOUTH KOREA)Deadline (ISRAEL)What the Hell (FRANCE)Resurrection Under the Ocean (TURKEY)Spellbound (SWITZERLAND)La Nueva (SPAIN)Bloody Red (IRAN)It's F*cking Hell (UKRAINE)Stalker Grandma (USA)Agatha (USA)Kindling (USA)The Gravedigger (USA)Follower (USA)Guillotine (USA)Live This Down (USA)Marlya (FRANCE)6 Wheels of Hell (USA)Hell is Just a Place (USA)Woman in the Maze (USA)The Inheritance (IRELAND)Brulefer (ARGENTINA)Cruel Tale, Shelter Monday (FRANCE)Fear No Weevil (USA)Creativity flourishes worldwide. Each of the films had to have the subject of one of the seven deadly sins. Wow! Look at all the countries represented on the screen at the Strand. We had to adjust our projector as some of the foreign films had subtitles, so the image needed to be raised. A good problem to have.
The event is this weekend Friday starting at 6, Saturday starting at 1pm, and Sunday starting at 1pm, with the award ceremony at 5pm. Daily tickets are available at the door for $10. The films show continuously throughout the day.Thank you to the producers for bringing this truly international event to Shelbyville and Shelby County!Next week on Wednesday we have our last COMMUNITY TREASURE SERIES of the year. We will host a conversation on "The Rec'' our youth club for decades in Shelbyville. We will also bid a fond adieu to Alex Krach of the Grover Center as he leaves as a newlywed to his new position in upstate New York. Good luck Alex!Wednesday our Bette Davis Tribute continues with WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE (1962) on Thursday, and our Friday Night Frights SON OF FRANKENSTEIN (1939) on Friday. We love what we do, and hope you can make it to one of our events soon. We have tons of live performances still on tap for 2023. Thank you for your support. See you at the Strand! If you would like to volunteer for an event reply to this email, join our Facebook Volunteer Group, or call 317-395-3318
