SWEET BABY JAMES - America's #1 James Taylor Tribute. Saturday October 5, 2024 at 7:30pm. Don't miss America's #1 James Taylor tribute Sweet Baby James, as Nashville musician Bill Griese performs the songs of the legendary JT. Not your typical tribute band fare, and not a "look-alike" act, Griese delights audiences using only his uncanny Taylor-like vocals & guitar playing, and a refreshingly real stage presence. This is a concert you won't want to miss. Tickets are available at the door, online, or at Shelbyville Paint.

TWITTY & LYNN: A SALUTE TO CONWAY AND LORETTA. Twitty & Lynn return to the Strand on Sunday October 6, 2024 for a 3pm matinee performance. There’s a moment right at the very beginning of any Twitty & Lynn show that affords country music fans the chance to look back in time. Just after the band has played the signature intro to “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn shoot each other a glance that summons the electrifying chemistry of their grandparents: Tre is the grandson of Conway Twitty, Tayla is the granddaughter of Loretta Lynn.
Twitty & Lynn — and their internationally popular show “A Salute to Conway & Loretta” — aren’t impersonators. Tre doesn’t groom Seventies sideburns and perm his hair; Tayla doesn’t mimic her grandmother’s mannerisms. Rather, they are onstage celebrating country music, the lost art of duet singing, and the two beloved icons they refer to as “Poppy” and “Memaw.”Please note tickets are available on our website only. The performance is all reserved seats. Tickets at the door will be for the UPPER BALCONY ONLY. Please visit www.StrandPAC.org for tickets.

Our Tuesday Night Film Series with WEIRD SCIENCE (1985). Weird Science is a 1985 American teen science fiction comedy directed by John Hughes. The film centers on two high school misfits, Gary Wallace (Anthony Michael Hall) and Wyatt Donnelly (Ilan Mitchell-Smith), who are socially awkward and constantly bullied by their peers. Desperate to become popular and confident, they use their computer skills to create the perfect woman, Lisa (played by Kelly LeBrock), through a science experiment.
Weird Science is noted for its quirky, fantastical plot and 1980s pop culture appeal, often remembered for its humorous take on the trope of "nerds getting their revenge" and the exaggerated consequences of unchecked wish fulfillment. The movie is part of John Hughes' legacy of films that explore teen angst, identity, and the pursuit of social acceptance. (ChatGPT)The film will be on Tuesday October 1, 2024 at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at the door.
***Our ongoing saga of our lobby AC unit has come to a close. That means we received the $817 bill...ouch. Maintaining our theatre is something we take pride in doing very well. Whether your building is old or brand new, ongoing maintenance is critical. Thank you to Strand volunteer Bob Schick, our "antique that takes care of the antiques," for helping get this solved.***We had fun at ANIMAL HOUSE last week. Thank you to Tyler Brandt and DePrez, Johnson, Brandt, & Eads PC for presenting this fun movie. Capone's was there with the bar and everyone had fun. Those who came in a toga had more fun!
***Thank you for your support. See you at the Strand!
