• The Strand Theatre Hosts “Ghost Story Hour” with Donna Dennison, Local Legends to be Recounted During Cinema Scares 2024 Film Festival

Shelbyville, IN - Master storyteller Donna Dennison will share spooky local legends and lore of Shelby County at The Strand Theatre, 215 S. Harrison St., during the Cinema Scares film festival on Saturday, September 28 from 6-7 pm.

As a natural orator, current librarian, and former teacher, Dennison establishes a rapport with audiences of all ages, creating a climate where hysterical laughter and historical learning combine. In the homespun characters of Temperance Quack, Sarah Mayhew, Clara Belle Conrey, and Sarah Shank, Dennison has been featured at multiple venues in Shelby County and across Indiana. Her storytelling - including historical home remedies, household tips, and tales gleaned from Shelby County Public Library’s Genealogy & History Department – brings the past to life for today’s audience. She is registered on the Indiana Historical Society Speakers List.
