    Looking Back: August

Aaron Owens, the Director of Marketing at Woodland Terrace of New Palestine, successfully completed a National Senior Living Sales and Counselor course through Argentum. The course covered material such as industry knowledge, marketing strategy and consultative sales processes. Congratulations to Aaron on the successful completion of this course!

In August, we had a special surprise visit from Henrietta the Happy Hippo! She even brought some treats to share with residents and staff. Thanks, Henrietta!

    Clinical Corner
    Restorative Nursing Program

The partnership with our Justus Care Network provides a connectivity to services that not only benefits our residents, but it also benefits the care providers by allowing seamless communication as residents transfer from one service line to another. For example, as a resident using Best Choice for home physical therapy improves and is ready for outpatient therapy, the transition to our outpatient clinic and HTS (Healthcare Therapy Services) is easy and the services continue.

During the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, we realized that some residents needed extra support to continue to progress or at least maintain their therapy goals. An idea for a Restorative Nursing program grew out of the desire to help residents maintain and not decline in their mobility. The designated Restorative Aide is trained by the Best Choice and HTS to supplement their services. A documentation system fosters communication between our Restorative Aide and the service provider. The Restorative Aide helps to motivate the resident to complete the home exercises or escorts the resident while walking. Activities of daily living are used by the Restorative Aide to work with the resident to maintain mobility and the program is individualized to best meet the needs of the resident. For more information, please contact our Executive Director or Health Services Director.

    Staff Highlight
Lisa Green is a nurse here at Woodland Terrace of New Palestine. Lisa came on board January 2018 and helped open the building. She is an amazing nurse, and she is kind and generous. She bakes cookies for the staff, and she sent families pictures of their loved ones during visitation restrictions. She attends all events and community activities. Lisa makes everything look effortless. She has been a tremendous help during this on-going COVID-19 pandemic. She has helped out whenever she could. We want to thank Lisa for all her hard work and appreciate her. Thank you, Lisa!
