The expo offers families and professionals a great opportunity to network with organizations and service providers who meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities. Visit the exhibit hall to meet and talk with therapy and service providers, nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, recreation programs and other agencies serving adults and children with disabilities.

At 10:30 am we will feature a one hour presentation from the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services (BDDS). BDDS will provide an update on the redesign of the Medicaid Waivers. The waiver redesign project is a multi-year process to modernize and improve the services and supports array for Home and Community-Based Services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Staff from BDDS will also be discussing their other initiatives aimed at supporting children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live their best life.
Speaker bio: Heather Dane currently acts as the Chief Program Officer for the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services. Previous to this role she served as the bureau’s Home and Community Based Services Director as well as the Family Engagement Specialist. Heather is a LifeCourse Ambassador and is the state’s LifeCourse Facilitator. Through her education, years of professional experience working with families, and most importantly as the parent of two children with multiple disabilities, Heather is able to provide the bureau with a perspective that is unique to families. Heather strives to improve family professional partnerships which enhance access to the complicated systems and services that assist families and individuals in identifying, communicating, and working towards their vision for a good life.
