    Leadership Shelby County Coordinator
    Position Description

    The Leadership Shelby County Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting both the Leadership Shelby County and the Jr. Leadership programs by coordinating the both program’s communications and all activities related to the planning and coordinating of the program days. This a part-time position, approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.

    Recommended Education Level:  Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience preferred.
    Recommended Experience Level:  1+ years of experience in event coordination
                                                                                                                                                               
    Essential Functions
    • Assist with campaigns and program initiatives.
    • Coordinate all logistics for program days such as location and times.
    • Coordinate any refreshments or catering necessary for the program days.
    • Coordinate all guest speakers for program days.
    • Assist in delivering coursework to participants in the program by creating and preparing agendas, documents, and materials for the program days. 
    • Provide direct support to individuals in or interested in the program.
    • Act as a community liaison for the program by being able to answer any and all questions regarding the Leadership Shelby County Program.
    • Serve as an exemplary organizational advocate and affirmative presence in the community with business and corporate partners.
    • Assist with budget administration and record keeping for project group funds.
    • Attend planning sessions and meetings to review program progress.
    • Attend all program sessions in their entirety.
    • As schedule allows, attend other leadership functions to gain knowledge of their successful programs.  Build relationships with other leadership program personnel (i.e., Indiana Leadership Association).
    • Develop, implement, and manage the LSC alumni program.
    • Secures funding through sponsorships and grants.
    • Plan the program retreat and graduation ceremony.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of processes for providing participant and personal services.
    • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures.
    • Familiar with Office Suite software, presentation software, and other necessary computer programs.
    • Excellent time management skills allowing for prioritization of and attention to multiple work assignments.
    • Must be conscientious, adaptable, and empathetic of diverse individuals and situations.

    Physical Demands
    • Frequent standing, sitting within the work area.
    • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds (due to set-up and tear-down for program days)
     
    Work Environment
    • The work environment is that of a fast-paced office with moderate noise levels (e.g. business office with computers & printers, light traffic).
    • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.
    • This position requires verbal and face-to-face contact with others on a daily basis.
    • Frequent use of a computer is necessary.
    • This position requires the use of all general office equipment.
    • Flexibility to work from home as needed.
     
    This position reports directly to the Executive Director of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and is governed by a Board of Directors.
