    Member Engagement and Events Coordinator 


    PAY STATUS: Full-time
    HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekends during events are required.
    REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Shelby County Chamber of Commerce

     
    The Member Engagement and Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Chamber events, member programs, and the Leadership Shelby County program. This position also leads member relations efforts to ensure high levels of engagement, retention, and satisfaction as well as member recruitment. Additionally, the role provides accounting and administrative support to ensure smooth financial and operational functions.

    The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in event planning, member engagement, communications, and basic accounting practices.

    Event & Program Management

    • Plan, coordinate, and execute Chamber events including the Annual Awards Gala, Golf Outing, Cocoa Crawl and 50/50 Raffle as well as networking events, roundtables and others. 
    • Coordinate all logistics for Leadership Shelby County (LSC) program days, including scheduling, venues, catering, guest speakers, and materials.
    •  Work with committees, vendors, and sponsors to ensure seamless event execution.
    • Oversee event budgets, sponsorship opportunities, and revenue goals.
    • Solicit sponsorships, donations, and grants to support programs.


    Member Relations

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for Chamber members, providing timely assistance, support, and information.
    • Assist the Executive Director with recruitment of new members by promoting Chamber benefits, programs, and resources.
    • Manage new member onboarding, ensuring a smooth introduction to Chamber offerings.
    • Foster strong relationships with members through outreach, engagement, and follow-up communications.
    • Track membership renewals, retention, and engagement, providing regular reports and insights to the Executive Director.
    • Coordinate member recognition, appreciation initiatives, and spotlights (social media, newsletters, events).
    • Collaborate with staff to identify opportunities to enhance member value and experience.


    Outreach 

    • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to develop promotional materials (signage, programs, name tags, campaigns).
    •  Represent the Chamber the community and build relationships with business and corporate partners, answering questions and providing information about programs and membership.


    Accounting & Administrative Support

    • Assist with budget preparation and administration for Chamber programs and events.
    • Track event revenues, expenses, invoices, and sponsorship payments.
    • Support general bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting as directed by the Executive Director.
    • Maintain accurate databases and records related to events, programs, and membership.
    • Provide general office support, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and assisting staff as needed.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned 


    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, hospitality, accounting, or related field preferred, but not required 
    • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva as well as familiarity with QuickBooks or other accounting software preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmen
    • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.


    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    • Frequent standing, sitting, and computer use.
    • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
    • Requires flexibility for some evening and weekend work.
    • Fast-paced office environment with regular face-to-face and phone interactions.


    Salary & Benefits: 

    • Salary: $42,500 per year; additional Insurance Stipend per pay period 
    • 1 week vacation at 6 months 
    • Paid holidays including the week between Christmas eve and New Years Day
