    Job Title: Programming Assistant

    Location: Shelby Senior Services, 2120 Intelliplex Dr. Ste. 101, Shelbyville, IN 46176
    General Description:
    Shelby Senior Services is seeking a dedicated Programming Assistant to join our team. This part-time
    position will be responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of programs and
    activities designed to enhance the physical, social, and emotional well-being of older adults. This role
    involves assisting in the daily operation of the senior center, engaging with participants, and ensuring
    that programs run smoothly and safely.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist with the development and execution of daily, weekly, and monthly programs (e.g., fitness
    classes, educational workshops, social events, arts and crafts).
    • Help set up and break down rooms and materials for activities.
    • Maintain attendance records and help evaluate program effectiveness.
    • Greet and interact with participants in a friendly, respectful manner.
    • Provide administrative support such as answering phones, maintaining calendars, and managing
    registrations.
    • Support volunteers and instructors during activities.
    • Help monitor the safety and well-being of participants.
    • Assist in promoting programs through social media, newsletters, and community outreach.
    • Travel locally to off-site Horizon Centers and various senior communities

    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Experience working with older adults or in a community service setting preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with
    individuals 60+ years old.
    • Ability to organize, multitask, and work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency in using computers for scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping.
    • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift up to 25lbs occasionally (e.g., supplies, chairs).
    • Standing, walking, and light physical activity throughout the day.
    Work Schedule:
    20-30 hours per week
    Schedule may vary depending on programming
    Majority of hours will take place during hours of operation: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
