Position Summary
Shelby County Players (SCP) is seeking a distinguished Executive Director to provide comprehensive oversight of the daily operations of its revered community theatre organization. This full-time appointment requires an average commitment of forty hours per week, with the expectation of additional evening and weekend hours as necessary to fully support programming and events. Hiring is scheduled for November, with employment beginning in December.

The position demands exceptional energy and adaptability, as the Executive Director is entrusted with a broad array of responsibilities. Superior leadership acumen and exemplary oral and written communication skills are imperative for effectively representing SCP and engaging its stakeholders.
Applicants should have a proven record of accomplishment in nonprofit management or a closely related discipline, supported by a history of successful program development and community outreach initiatives. A thorough understanding of theatrical production processes and previous experience in arts administration are highly advantageous, fostering the strategic advancement and continued sustainability of SCP.
Reporting Structure
The Executive Director shall report directly to a nine-member board of trustees and is charged with supervising and guiding the volunteers who contribute to SCP’s activities throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
Principal duties include the coordination of organizational budgets, management of schedules, oversight of fundraising activities, facilitation of educational programming, and the enhancement of community engagement. As the chief representative of SCP, the Executive Director is integral to furthering the organization’s mission and upholding its esteemed reputation within the broader community.
Furthermore, the Executive Director is responsible for ensuring strict compliance with all pertinent local, state, and federal regulations governing nonprofit organizations, while maintaining exemplary standards of ethical conduct and operational transparency.
