SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Thursday, July 31, 2025) – Mr Booombastic and Martin Munoz closed out the month of July with an explosive performance to win the second running of the $34,000 Mari Hulman George Overnight Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
Mr Booombastic proved his race favorite status from the start. The two-year-old sorrel son of Dulce Sin Tacha powered out of the gate for Munoz and used a big stride from the first jump. His main competition came from the inside as Mr Blood Carver and Francisco Quintero and Hes Cross Firing and Brian Hollingsworth also had quick early speed. Midway through the race, something clicked in Mr Boombastic as he took a short lead.
The late closers moved in during the final strides of the 350 yard dash, but their efforts couldn’t even come close to Mr Booombastic, who won by three-quarters of a length over Caelus and Diego Villamil, who closed for second on the outside. Mr Blood Carver held his ground for third along the inside.
Mr Booombastic is owned by Carlos Ramos and trained by Ricardo Martinez. The Oklahoma bred paid $2.80 for the win.
The win was the second in three lifetime starts for the connections of Mr Booombastic. The son of Dulce Sin Tacha, a $22,000 purchase from the Heritage Place Yearling Sale last fall, increased his career bankroll to more than $29,000 with the win.
The Mari Hulman George Overnight Stakes is named in honor of the former Indiana Breed Development member who owned and operated Circle S Ranch in Terre Haute, Ind. Although her farm included Thoroughbreds, her main focus was in Quarter Horse racing and breeding. George, who passed away in 2018, also served as chairperson of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 1988 until 2016. She was a huge humanitarian for numerous causes including retired greyhounds and horses.
The 23rd season of live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing runs through Thursday, Nov. 13. For more information on racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis, visit www.caesars.com/horseshoe-indianapolis/racing or find details on social media @HSIndyRacing.
