Our 18th Season
...Building an Audience, One Seat at a Time
Dear Strand Fan,Tonight we have Friday Night Frights. This month we continue our year long exportation of Stephen King films. PET SEMATARY (1989) is showing tonight. This film has a love it, hate it following. If you are a fan, you love it. If you are a critic, you hate it. Considering it's box office revenue, we think the "love it" group won out! Tickets are available at the door. The movie starts at 7pm and is 103 minutes long.***We are dark this weekend. There is a reason...who do you have in your NCAA Brackets? We learned our lesson, we can compete against a lot of various events, but the NCAA Tournament isn't one of them. We too want to watch basketball.***PARENTHOOD (1989) is this week's Tuesday Night Film Series presentation. This family comedy-drama film has an ensemble cast that includes Steve Martin, Tom Hulce, Rick Moranis, Martha Plimpton, Keanu Reeves, Jason Robards, Mary Steenburgen, and Dianne Wiest.Directed by Ron Howard, it will be a treat to see this on the big screen. The movie is Tuesday March 25 at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door.
***Thursday & Friday the Strand transforms back into the weekly serial movie theater. We are showing 15 episodes of CAPTAIN AMERICA. These were produced by Republic Pictures and one was shown each week. These shorts keep the audience coming back to see what happens next. Captain America's sidekick is BUCKY BARNES. Bucky was born in Shelbyville, Indiana! He turns 100 this year and the City is hosting events honoring Bucky.
Each episode is around 15 minutes. We will show 1-7 on Thursday, and 8-15 on Friday. The Strand will publish a "Special Edition Weekly Newsletter" in honor of this event. Stay tuned!Tickets are available at the door and the episodes start at 7pm.

Next weekend we welcome KENNY JAMESand RAVE ON! to the Strand's stage. Kenny performs A TRIBUTE TO BUDDY HOLLY. This concert features all the music you know and love. Saturday March 29, 2025 at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door, online, and at Shelbyville Paint. See you there!
***Did you try to buy tickets for the Buddy Holly concert at Shelbyville Paint? They didn't have them....oops. We have so many shows, somehow this one slipped by. The tickets are being delivered tomorrow morning. Thank you for your patience.***The Strand is about making memories. We have been in operation since 1916, that is more than a few years. The Strand's legacy stretches generations. This week we got a reminder of how impactful our theater can be.Mark and Carol came to the Strand for American Graffiti. Their first date was 50 ago...at the Strand. They sat in the balcony back then, and sat in the balcony now! The movie 50 years ago...American Graffiti! Wow.
