Our 18th Season
...Building an Audience, One Seat at a TimeDear Strand Fan,
TONIGHT - Friday Night Frights, part deux! Last week our gremlins, as film guru Jason H. described it, made us unable to show our first Fright Night Frights film. So here we are tonight, and on our screen is CREEPSHOW from 1982.
This is the first film in our 10 film series. In 2025 we are highlighting the work of Stephen King. If you have tickets from last week, they are still good. We will also have tickets at the door. ALL PATRONS will receive a FREE box of popcorn tonight. Come out and experience what Stephen King brings to the screen...a movie that is listed as one of the 100 scariest movies of all time! The show starts a 7pm
***Saturday Night March 8 TURN TO STONE: MUSIC OF ELO returns to the Strand. This group brings a high energy show playing all your favorite ELO hits. While we will be pleasantly full, tickets WILL be available at the door. You can still get your tickets online, at Shelbyville Paint, or at the door. The concert starts at 7:30pm with doors opening at 6:45pm. Capone's will provide the bar on Saturday night.

Our Tuesday Night Film Series continues on March 11. This month is "Feel Good at the Strand." (editor's note: That is for the movies, not what goes on in the balcony...) Tuesday we will show E.T. - THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL. This is one of everyone's favorite movies. If you haven't seen it on a movie screen in a while, now is your chance to relive the memory or see it for the first time! The show starts at 7pm and tickets are available at the door.

It was a busy week at the Strand. We have some exciting news coming in the next few weeks. On Thursday Steve F. and David F. spent a 12 hour day planning for the future. This is cool stuff....

(warning, tech talk ahead)
It has been 2 years since our friend and Strand technical director Cody Veerkamp (1989 - 2023) passed away. We are in the process of documenting all the great work Cody did for the Strand. This month's project is to figure out all our DMX addresses with more than one universe.
DMX lighting, or Digital Multiplex lighting, is a standardized protocol used for controlling multiple lighting fixtures and effects from a single controller. It allows for precise control over various parameters of the lights, such as brightness, color, and movement. We use it.
At the Strand we have two universes. A DMX universe consists of 512 individual channels. Each channel can control one aspect of a light fixture. Each fixture in a DMX system must be assigned a unique starting address. If Fixture A requires three channels and starts at address 1, it will use addresses 1 to 3. Fixture B can then start at address 4 if it also requires three channels and so on.
Cody was extremely clever in configuring the system. We are just now mapping how it works. As always, good job Cody. Now you know.

The Strand is honored that two of our own were honored last week. Tim Barrick, a Strand supporter and volunteer, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce. Tim is deserving of this great honor.
Karen Smith and Capone’s won the award for the Shelby County Business of the Year from the Chamber of Commerce. Capone’s is a great supporter of the Strand. They provide the bars at our theater. Karen and her wonderful staff are there whether the crowds are large or small. They truly embody everything the Business of the Year winner should be.
Congratulations to Tim and Karen.***Thank you for the support. See you at the Strand! If you would like to volunteer for an event reply to this email, join our Facebook Volunteer Group, or call 317-395-3318
