SHELBYVILLE, IN. (September 17) – Shelby County hosted the Indiana Barn Foundation Barn Tour on Saturday, September 14. Tour participants ‘Found their Place’ among the tour locations that included the Bogemann Farm, JP Parker Company Farm, Meltzer Farm, Neiman Family Farm, Rudicel/Montgomery Polygonal Barn and Runnebohm Family Farm. Lewis Creek Baptist Church served as tour headquarters.

With the second largest tour crowd in IBF Barn Tour history, Shelby County welcomed guest from over 36 Indiana counties, Chicago, Napierville and La Grange Illinois; Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio; and Lansing, Michigan. “The success of this tour not only rests with the Indiana Barn Foundation, but with the Shelby County Tourism and Visitors Bureau for their work on promotion and creation of the Shelby County tour book, interactive maps and hospitality offered to tour goers. SCTVB has been in contact with us for over four years requesting assistance with the Rudicel/Montgomery Barn and the desire to host the tour, and we’re so pleased with the outcome of this years tour,” states Danielle Bachant-Bell, IBF Board Member.

“All six of our Barn Tour locations did an outstanding job of affording access to their entire property to tour participants, and we are grateful for their hard work to make the 2024 Barn Tour one for the record books.” says Rachael Ackley, Executive Director of the Shelby County Tourism and Visitors Bureau. “We are beyond thankful to the Indiana Barn Foundation and their commitment to assist Shelby County in the preservation of the Rudicel/Montgomery Polygonal Barn so future generations can enjoy this landmark. Built in 1910, the Rudicel/Montgomery Barn is one of the few remaining Polygonal Barns in the State of Indiana,” remarks Ackley.
