• Shelby County Public Library: This week at the Library 4/22

Crafts reign at the Shelby County Public Library, beginning Tuesday, April 23, and ending with a Craft Supply Swap on Saturday, April 27. Essential oils, digital family history albums, reclaiming old bookends, starting seedlings, and space for crafting and conversation fill the days for adults and other ages. Gaming, anime, and storytimes are on tap for youth.

The Morristown Branch kicks off craft week Tuesday with an Intro into Essential Oils. LaDonna will explain their uses, and how patrons can use them. Wednesday, April 24 at 3 pm, youth can get their hands dirty at Morristown and start seedlings. All ages may bring their own craft projects Thursday, April 25 from 3 to 5 pm; from scrapbooking to knitting and more, any crafter is welcome to share our space. Drop off old, unused but still useable craft supplies all week at the Morristown Branch, then “shop” for new-to-you supplies on Saturday, April 27 from 10 am to 3 pm.

Crafting of a genealogical kind begins Wednesday, April 24, in the Indiana Room of the Genealogy & History Department at 7 pm. Donna will introduce patrons to a simple graphic design program, Canva, and everyone can create a family history book. Bring three to five family photos and the stories that the photos depict. Laptop or tablet is not required, but patrons may bring theirs if they wish. The library is not responsible for loss of damage of personal property.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle on Thursday, April 25 and reclaim bookends. Earth Day is Monday, April 22, so Pam will show everyone how to reuse old bookends by refreshing them for spring. Meet at 6 pm Thursday in Room D at the Shelbyville Branch, where supplies will be provided.

Morristown Branch issues a TAB Call-Out so teens can have a say in what happens at the library. All participants will earn services hour; and oh, yes, there will be snacks. Meet at 6 pm in the Morristown Branch.
