THE MOON CAVE RAMBLERS
Thursday November 14, 2024 7:30pm
The Moon Cave Ramblers evolved from a family band jam in Rush County—primarily the McMahan family and close friends that picked and grinned locally in Rushville. With Monty McMahan on banjo, guitar and vocals, backed by his wife Brenda McMahan on standup bull fiddle (bass), and their father, Walter McMahan on fiddle, their collective resume goes pretty deep in terms of decades. The group was rounded out with Mike Hallgarth on vocals and additional banjo and Joe Land on mandolin. In 2021, when approached for more local gigs, the Moon Cave Ramblers were officially born.
The nature of a group of ramblers is that there is some fluidity in the group. Currently the Moon Cave Ramblers’ membership also includes Jack Woodrough on guitar and vocals and Caleb Ho filling in on fiddle.
The Moon Cave Ramblers play traditional bluegrass with some inspirations from progressive and modern music. It is the tradition of bluegrass that the band hopes to keep going with new generations—ensuring the Circle will forever be Unbroken.Tickets are available at the door, online, and at Shelbyville Paint.***We are transitioning from Halloween decorations to Christmas Holiday decorations. We look forward to having the Strand become the cozy, magical holiday venue we all remember. We appreciate the support.
