Dear Strand Fan,
Tonight FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS (FNF) starts our 2025 Series. This year we are presenting films from Stephen King stories. CREEPSHOW (1982) is a film by George Romero. This was Stephen King's first screenplay. This is listed as one of the 100 scariest movies. Not surprising given the author! Come join us tonight Friday February 28, 2025. The movie starts at 7pm.
FNF Season Passes are available at the door. They are $50 for ALL ten films! You can buy them at the Strand Box Office tonight. We hope to see our FNF regulars as well as new fans of the genre.
***MARDI GRAS NIGHT IN SHELBYVILLE is Saturday night! Buck Rogers Jr and La Louisianne Band will provide New Orleans/Louisiana Mardi Gras music with a distinctive Hoosier flare!
The band is a 7 piece band that plays Louisiana originals covers of the greats in delta music like Louis Armstrong and Dr. John. This is a fun all ages show, children under 12 are free,with costumes welcome, prize giveaways, Mardi Gras beads and customs. The late great Cajun chef Justin Wilson used to say “pass a good time”! Laissez Lez bon temps rouler”. Let the good times roll.The concert starts at 7:30pm and tickets are available at the door.
***Let's start March with baseball! FIELD OF DREAMS (1989) is our Tuesday Night Film Series film this week. This iconic film staring Kevin Costner and the late James Earl Jones is a story of believing.The film received accolades when released. Not all were enamored, as Rolling Stone panned the film. It went on to be nominated for Best Picture that year.
Come relive the dream on Tuesday night March 4 at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door.

***This past week Crush Bon Jovi performed on our stage. It was a fun concert and everyone was on their feet. Thank you to Doug and his talented crew for a great show!
***The Strand started as a performing arts center in 2008. At that time we established vendor relationships. We purchase everything we can locally, but some things are just not available in Shelbyville. Some of those are concession items. Indiana Concession Supply has been our vendor and supporter the past 18 years. They announced their closing. We wish Dave Battas the best of luck in retirement. His crew is always fantastic and we will miss our trips to their location to restock our supply.***Our ticket system is very complex. We use top flight professional ticketing software. Our vendor does many Broadway stages. The ticket buying experience is smooth across all platforms, operating systems, and devices. We were informed they are increasing our per ticket rate due to inflation. We will be raising our online ticket fee $.30. This fee is not a profit center. It offsets the cost of the service and software. When all is said and done it does not generate enough revenue to cover our costs. We have yet to receive any comments about this fee, but we want to be upfront about what is happening.
Our vendor is excellent and has supported the efforts of our small theater adapting their platform for our use.***We love being at the Strand. Thank you for the support, as you make it all possible.
