Our 18th Season
...Building an Audience, One Seat at a TimeDear Strand Fan,Happy Mother's Day from your Strand family!(editor's note: We are still a bit out of sorts. This didn't make our normal Friday publication schedule. Hopefully we will get back on track soon)MAY FEST: Southwestern High School Music Department. On Monday May 12, 2025 the students from SWHS will present their annual MAY FEST at the Strand. This program features their talented musicians. This is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and we encourage you to attend and see the great things happening in Music Education in our County. The program starts at 7pm and admission is free.
TWISTERS (2024) Our Tuesday Night Film Series continues on May 13, 2025 with the sequel to last week's Twister (1996). Our Oklahoma friends know all too well the propensity of tornado outbreaks that occur each year. We don't have the storm chasers here like the do out there, but ride along as competing groups of storm chasers take us on an action filled ride. The movie starts at 7PM. Tickets are available at the door.
THE SHINING (1980) Friday Night Frights Film Series presents our next Stephen King movie. Here's Johnny! Relive the suspense and epic adaption of this scary book. Did you know that Stanley Kubrick (2001: A Space Odyssey) directed this movie? Here all about it as our film guru Jason Hignite takes you through how the book made it to the screen. He gives an introduction to all our movies and helps set the scene that will unfold before your eyes. Friday May 16, 2025 at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door.
***This week we hosted the third grade from Coulston Elementary for a tour. 71 students learned about our history, watched us fly down our screen, and saw a fairy tale come alive on the screen. We love making Strand memories!
***The City of Shelbyville did dye testing to locate our sewer connection. We think our sewer line will be a casualty of the demolition happening next door, but the City has a plan to replace it as soon as the old line is exposed. We have had problems with our lateral in the past, so this will be a welcomed upgrade.
***Congratulations to the thespians at Shelbyville Central Schools Theatre Department for their successful production THE BROTHERS GRIMM SPECTACULATHON at Breck Auditorium. We are proud of our theatre students.
***
Flowers are planted! Thank you to Chief Dwenger and members of the Shelbyville Police Department for planting the flowers in front of the Strand this past Friday. They are beautiful.
***Thank you to all who continue to give us works of support. We received several donations in the mail and online. We are humbled by your generosity. See you at the Strand! If you would like to volunteer for an event reply to this email, join our Facebook Volunteer Group, or call 317-395-3318
