Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- Preferred accounting experience or a minimum of course work in bookkeeping practices.
- Proficient computer skills.
- An associate’s degree or higher in accounting preferred.
- Experience in public school business office is preferred.
- Ability to interact positively with school and the community.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and school community.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board policies. Knowledge of or willingness to learn State Board of Accounts Accounting and Uniform Compliance Guidelines. Typing, filing, organization, and communication skills.
Job Description:
- Maintain a complete and systematic set of financial records in accordance with the State of Indiana standard accounting practices and auditing procedures for both the high school and adult education.
- Prepare annual budget for School Corporations and follow guidelines set by the State Board of Accounts (SBOA) and Department of Education (DOE) Office of School Finance
- Gateway reports: Monthly and Annual Engagements, Form 100-R, Other Post-Employment Benefits, Collective Bargaining Reporting and Uploading, Conflict of Interest Reports
- Manage all grants and prepare financial statements for the DOE, prepare final expenditure reports and send to DOE on a timely basis
- Comply with all fiscal reporting requirements of DOE and SBOA to include Form 9 (Biannual Financial Report), Federal grants compliance, Annual Financial Reports, and staff reporting through DataExchange
- Manage the accounts payable process to include accurate and timely payment of vendors for services and products rendered
- Prepare and maintain purchase orders and account encumbrances
- Balance all funds and appropriations monthly
- Make daily receipts and deposits for all revenue collected
- Reconcile bank statement monthly
- Prepare cash flow; invest excess cash as needed
- Manage the payroll operations process to ensure accurate employee compensation. Maintain accurate employee attendance and personnel files.
- Prepare annual teacher contracts
- Coordinate benefit plans, retirement plans and other fringe benefits. Serve as benefit liaison with the Insurance Trust. Conduct annual open enrollment for employer-sponsored benefits.
- Maintain benefit selections and benefit election census with Trust administrator and the self-billing of insurance premiums
- Report all payroll taxes, retirement benefits, federal employer reports, W2s, ACA reporting and unemployment data
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the BRCP Governing Board. Prepare budget documents bi-annually for board review and approval.
- Create and maintain local and SBOA inventory listings to ensure all assets are identified and properly tagged.
- Manage student and financial records and follows the State of Indiana retention schedule for public records.
- Other duties as assigned by the director
