    Job Summary
    We are a newly established grief counseling center expanding into Shelby County! We are dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and their families through the difficult journey of grief and loss. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our team. This position will provide therapeutic support to children, adolescents, and families coping with the emotional, psychological, and behavioral effects of grief. The ideal candidate will be experienced in trauma- informed care, child and adolescent therapy, or family counseling, and be committed to providing culturally competent and evidence-based therapeutic services.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Individual and Family Therapy: Provide grief counseling to children, adolescents, and families, utilizing various therapeutic techniques (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, etc.) to help clients process grief and loss.
    • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify emotional, mental, and behavioral needs related to grief and loss. Develop individualized treatment plans and goals.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care and support for clients. Participate in team meetings to discuss client progress, treatment strategies, and case coordination.
    • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support for clients in crisis, utilizing appropriate intervention strategies to ensure safety and stability.
    • Support Groups: Lead or co-lead grief support groups for children, adolescents, and families. Facilitate discussions that promote healthy coping, emotional expression, and peer support.
    • Education and Resources: Offer psychoeducation to families on grief and loss, helping them understand the grieving process and how to best support their children or adolescent during difficult times.
    • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure all services are in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.
    • Community Outreach: Participate in community education efforts to raise awareness about grief, loss, and mental health resources available to families in Shelby County.

    Qualifications
    • Education Minimum:
      • LSW: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program and licensure in the state of Indiana.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families, particularly in grief and loss, trauma, or related fields.
      • Experience in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care is highly preferred.
    • Skills and Competencies:
      • Strong knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and the grief process.
      • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including families, children, and community members.
      • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic techniques, with a particular focus on grief counseling.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Ability to build trust and rapport with clients, especially children and adolescents.
      • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
    • Certifications (Preferred but not required):
      • Certification in grief counseling or specialized training in child/adolescent grief is a plus.
      • Experience with trauma-focused interventions, such as TF-CBT or EMDR, is beneficial.
